Bee Scientifics has come a long way in the last 10 years and has carved out a very specialised niche in the Australian market. We maintain two breeding programs of Italian and Carniolian/Caucasian (CC) lineages of bees. Our entire operation will undergo selection for Varroa Resistance using the undisputed Harbo assay which not only selects for Varroa Sensitive hygiene but also reduced mite reproduction. In our extensively researched and lived perspective, the only way to breed Varroa resistance is through actually measuring bee behaviour and mite reproduction in the hive.
The breeding work underpins our commercial activities. In our shop you can find breeder queens, production queens, queen cells, and workshops. We also offer technical breeding services (insemination). Please visit our shop to lean more.
In July 2024 we launched the beekeeping/ honey side of Bee Scientifics named after our local catchment “Broken River Apiaries”. Broken River Apiaries is all about bees, science, nature, food, community and of course love. We help community organisations raise money through honey money fundraisers and keep our local school kitchen programs stocked with donated honey. Your support makes this possible!
